Does it earn a slot? As the reach specialist, yes. The rake plays like a spear: poke at range — and ranged pokes interrupt grabs — or throw it like a javelin when the moment calls. It's the melee weapon that lets you contribute to a fight from outside execution distance.
The grab-interrupt niche
Standing just outside Michael's grab range and poking is genuinely disruptive: every poke that lands on a grab attempt is a rescue that cost you nothing. Between the rake, lawn darts, and the shove, a coordinated lobby can make grabbing anyone expensive.
The caveat
Thrown rakes obey the universal rule: he can throw it back — and a javelin has a javelin's return trip. Throw to finish moments, not to open them.
Tier context
The best tier is the fire axe / pickaxe / sledgehammer / rake quartet; the worst tier (kitchen knife, fire poker, baton, pipe wrench, shank, broken bottle) is covered — with its one honorable exception — at household weapons.
